One protagonist is the art exhibition of KUKA robot

: What kind of art exhibition can be created by a group of artists who are obsessed with industrial robots and a group of industrial robots obsessed with art? If you are full of curiosity and you miss the scene, take a small bench and listen to Xiao Bian. And you.
Following the steam engine, the production of assembly lines and microelectronics products, love-tossing humans are now busy making products, machines and tools available through the Internet to create the fourth industrial revolution. Some people think this is very exciting, and some people are starting to worry about their future work and life. Undoubtedly, this will inevitably bring about earth-shaking changes in the politics and economy of human society. At the same time, for avant-garde artists who are always sensitive to smell, this is undoubtedly an excellent creative subject matter.
Not long ago, a series of art exhibitions entitled “Creative Robots” was held at the Ars Electronics Center in Linz, Austria. The exhibition lasted for more than a month. It was designed to give the audience a close understanding of what robots can do for humanity in the future. As a famous art fanatic, KUKA Robots became the only robot partner and soul role in this exhibition. The second part of the exhibition was particularly attractive. It focused on demonstrating to the audience the inspiration and specific applications of industrial robots as a catalyst for innovation in the fields of painting, design, and architecture, in addition to industrial fields.

Since the first industrial revolution more than 200 years ago, humans have begun to use machines for large-scale production assembly lines. After the digital revolution, Industry 4.0 became the core concept of the fourth industrial revolution. At this art exhibition, KUKA's sales manager was interviewed by the media about why industrial robots are increasingly involved in the field of art and related issues and money. The following is the actual record of this interview. In the end, how did the "art delusion" in industrial robots grow up? This tells you!

What are the reasons or ideas for making industrial robots suitable for artistic creation?

Reinhard Nagler: Industrial robots are mainly used in assembly lines. For example, in automobile manufacturing, it is used to weld the chassis and fix the insulating material, but it can also be used as a job in the food industry such as packaging cereal bars. Of course, most of this happened at the factory, so the general public had almost no chance to see the robot work. This is one of the reasons why we decided to show the robot to the public. We want to tell you what other things industrial robots can do in addition to those well-known areas. The second point is that industrial robots are always associated to some degree with dangerous work that is still carried out by humans. This prompted us to participate in this project because we wanted to show that in the future, humans still have absolute initiative in the interaction between humans and robots, and humans will always be robotic thinking, the controller and coordinator of actions.

Why is the KUKA robot arm suitable for artistic creation?

Reinhard Nagler: Traditional robots can move their arms along its six axes, which makes it possible to move the payload to any position. In addition, the size of the robot is different, and the mobile payload can also have a certain range. The biggest advantage is that you can program a series of movements that are then executed independently by the robot. Needless to say, this has great appeal in the art world. As a result, there are various possibilities for using industrial robots in the art world.
